Hello! welcome to my blog...
I'm going to be honest: this is my first ever blog. So it's probably not going to be great. i don't even know what it's going to be yet.
Maybe it'll be my guide to young women travelling solo. Maybe it'll be be a love story (chance would be a fine thing!). Maybe it'll be a rather introverted 'finding myself' story (hmmm... fascinating...apologies in advance) Maybe I'll find myself in the middle of some great world event, and I'll write about that (not sure mum would approve). Maybe it'll be a snapshot of modern South American culture. Maybe it'll just be a chronicle. Maybe no-one wil read it. But I'll try to make it interesting. I'd love you all to set me some interesting challenges while I'm away, to keep me focussed and searching out new things (no, I will NOT hike the length of the falkland islands singing God Save the Queen)(and nothing inspired by 'I'm a Celebrity...' I do not have the medical back-up. Unless actual gold stars are provided. Then I'll think about it)
So to my first and biggest challenge, and the title of my blog. Actually my first choice was 'Mostly Harmless', but that was gone.... anyway....
For anyone who knows me, 'packing light' and 'Debbie' are not words oft uttered in the same breath, without the addition of a 'not'
Buuuuut every forum I read screams warnings of taking too much, so I'm determined (Determined!!! with a raised pointy finger!!!!) to limit myself to a 60 litre rucksack and 20 litre daysack. Which fits this overused phrase rather nicely, don't you think?
I'm off to buy my rucksack this weekend, and see if everything fits. Otherwise I need a new blog title!! Watch this space!!
for now: housekeeping.... Please leave a comment, a suggestion, say hi etc! it will be nice to hear from you when I'm out on the road/track/path/sea/whatever. Apologies to facebook friends as this is yet another forum to check, however, this is my public blog, to which children and my parents are invited. Please keep any comments clean....
a-thank-you for reading this far, and goodnight!

Hey Debbie.
ReplyDeleteFirstly - you owe me a pint. Secondly - we need to meet up before you go.
Keep me posted on the packing stuff - I'm not convinced I'm going to be able to live out of a rucksack... let us know what's worth doing and what's not, cos we'll be following in your footsteps shortly. See you on the way round!
